I’m Jorge Turell Yarur, a Madrid-born artist from a family of creatives. My passion for animation started at a young age, experimenting with flipbooks and stop-motion using clay before pursuing formal studies. I studied film at the London College of Communication, traditional and digital animation at ESDIP_Escuela de Arte in Madrid, and stop-motion animation at Inspira in Valencia.
My work is influenced by a fascination with the macabre and marginalized characters, drawing inspiration from creators like Tim Burton, Henry Selick, Roald Dahl, and Dr. Seuss, as well as the visual style of German Expressionism. I’m honored to have been shortlisted for the 2025 Goya Awards for my short film “The Boogey and the Witch” in the Best Animated Short Film category.
